Old School Family Pictures, New sewing project.

Salaam Sisters,

Hope your week is going well so far.

I went to H&M last week and found some aswome finds .. I'm going to do a video on my H&M haul this week sometime.. They had a great sale going on and I racked up... Well I was there I realized  the biggest thing on my wish list is,  LONG TANK TOPS to wear under my shirt to make it more modest .. I did find a few in H&M but there were not as long as i will like them .. so I decided that will be my next sewing project... I think I'm going to make a pattern with a shirt I have that is long enough and go from there .. I will use a thin jersey material... hope it comes out good ...lol.. I'll post everything once I get it together.

On another note....
I was looking through some boxes today and I found this old school pictures of my mom, dad, and one of me and bahiyah that I wanted to share .. One is of  my mom with hijab and abaya when she was maybe 20... My dad in with a turban he was in his 20's too and me & bahiyah as little kids .. How cute!!!

What I did so far.. Almost done

ASA Sister,

Yesterday I was able to work on the skirt for about 2 hours .. this is super easy to make but I did have a few issues with the closer, it was a little of a headache but I was still able to fix it .. I actually use hook and eye closer, not the best option but it works.

Here what I did so far.. I still have to sew the hem and I think I'm going to dye the bottom just to give it another look... Tell me what you think!!!

Starting the sewing project .. Fabric

Jummah Mubarak Sisters,

What's your plans for the weekend.... As usual mines is super busy .. Today I dont have much planned, so I'm able to sew my skirt YAY!!!! .. Tomorrow I have a meet and greet to go to at a sushi resturant... yum!! and Sunday is football with the boys.

Last night I went to Joann's and brought the fabric and thread. I wanted a real flowy fabric. I've notice when doing a sewing project it all about the material and prints. I'm not a print type of person so I got a nice solid grey color. I think it's a rayon blend but not 100% sure.
After wrapping it around my waist in the middle of the store ...lol I got 2.5 yards.

Here's pic of the fabric and supplies and me wrapping it around my waist once I got home. I'll takes pics as I go and post them. I hope it comes out well. Wish me luck!!!

Oh I forgot to mention .. I saw a cool tag on youtube that I'm going to do .. It's the  "what's in you purse tag" .. I may do it tonight if Ifinish the skirt.

New Sewing project... Join me !!!!!

Salaam Sisters,

So I still have the sewing fever and really want to sew something else. I was going to wait for the sister online to finish making the tutorial for the Abaya but she is super busy with a new line. I really cant wait for the line to come out, cause I seen a few of her sketches,  and they are FABULOUS.

While I wait for the Abaya tutorial, I decided to make a cute maxi skirt that I saw online. I LOVE LOVE maxi skirts and this one is  easy, cheap, and super cute... If you will like to join me, please let me know!!!

I'm going to buy the fabric today... The actually tutorial is a dress but i'm going to make the skirt part of it . I will also attach the sash. here's the link  maxi skirt by asmallsnippet... isnt it adorable???

Things you need:
-Fabric.. enough to wrap around your waist 1 and a half times
-Thread
-Elastic Thread (make sure it elastic thread and not cord)

Here's a pic.. What you think??

Sunday My boys have a football game. busy busy busy but I love it!!!

I finally finish my sewing project( well I finished wednesday but didnt take pics until today) that start out as a dress but turned out to be a shirt at the end. I actually like how it came out for my first real sewing project and it something I would wear. Sewing Project.... Would you join me????

Salaam Sisters,

I decided that I want to start a sewing project today. After looking through a few easy project online I decided to do a ANDA DRESS from the Burda Style website http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/anda . I decided on this dress cause

#1 It looks easy and as you know I just started sewing so I only know the basics.
#2 Cause I thought it will be a super cute modest shirt dress to wear with jeans
 #3 It's a cheap pattern(3.50usd) that I can download at home.
#4 It work well with cotton material that not expensive.

I would love love love it if a few  sister can join me on this sewing adventure. I'm going to download the pattern and buy the fabric today but I will wait a few days to start it, just to see if I can get a sister or two to join me.

I will post picture of the material and everything you need for the project tonight... I think this will be really fun.

Here's the link for the pattern again... http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/anda    the instruction is in the link
You need:
- Pattern
- 2-3 yards of fabric.. (im getting 2.5)
- bais tape
- Elastic(optional)
Almost all material work with this pattern, once you look at the pattern and see the pictures of the other dresses on the site you can get an idea of what kind you want to use .. I'm going to use cotton blend cause there a sale on it at joann's.

Pictures of the dress http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/anda/finished_projects?page=4 ...

Oh and I will follow the picture tutorial from this site as well http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2010/08/frock-by-friday-monday.html
Let me know if you will like to join me on this sewing adventure

Pics of my material and Supplies

So I choose a burn Orange color cause i thought it would be pretty for the fall and winter the material is a blended cotton and it was only 1.99usd a yard .. I got 2.5 yards. I got black bais tape for a different color instead of burn orange. I hope it comes out good. I paid under 15.00 for all the supplies. I cant wait to start.

Sewing with my daughter

Jummah Mubarak  Everyone,

I hope everyone had a great week. My week was super busy with my kids. Here in the States the kids had the whole week off from school which mean, I was home entertaining them all week long, I'm worn out ..lol. Today my daughter and I decided to sew a pair of pajama pants. Now this wasnt a easy task because, I don’t know how to sew…lol This was my first sewing project ever . It was a little frustrating at time but we were able to complete a pajama pants for her and her teddy. If you asks me they are pretty cute. What you think?
